چکیده
Abstract We propose a closed-form normalization method suitable for the study of secular dynamics small bodies in heliocentric orbits perturbed by tidal potential planet with orbit external to body. The makes no use relegation, thus circumventing all convergence issues related that technique. is based on convenient book-keeping parameter keeping simultaneously track quantities problem. affects both Lie series and Poisson structure employed successive perturbative steps. In particular, it definition normal form remainder at every step. show results obtained assuming Jupiter as perturbing planet, we discuss validity limits method.

Aas 12-189 Canonical Perturbation Theory for the Elliptic Restricted-three-body Problem
The distinguishing characteristic of the elliptic restricted three-body problem is a time-varying potential field resulting in non-autonomous and non-integrable dynamics. The purpose of this study is to normalize the system dynamics about the circular case and about one of the triangular Lagrange points by applying a method of canonical perturbation theory introduced by Hori and Deprit in the 1...
متن کاملCaustics of the restricted three-body problem
Trajectories of the planar, circular, restricted threebody problem are given in the configuration space through the caustics associated to the invariant tori of quasi-periodic orbits. It is shown that the caustics of trajectories librating in any particular resonance display some features associated to that resonance. This method can be considered complementary to the Poincaré surface of sectio...
متن کاملCapture and escape in the elliptic restricted three-body problem
Several families of irregular moons orbit the giant planets. These moons are thought to have been captured into planetocentric orbits after straying into a region in which the planet’s gravitation dominates solar perturbations (the Hill sphere). This mechanism requires a source of dissipation, such as gas-drag, in order to make capture permanent. However, capture by gas-drag requires that parti...
متن کاملAn Analysis of Stability in the Restricted Three-body Problem
The three body problem studies the motion of three masses whose gravitational attraction have an effect on each other. The dynamics of the three body problem are essentially different from those of two bodies, because in the latter case, an analytical solution may be found that admits orbits in the form of conic sections. This problem has been studied at great length and is the basis of most of...
متن کاملGlobal instability in the elliptic restricted three body problem∗
The (planar) ERTBP describes the motion of a massless particle (a comet) under the gravitational field of two massive bodies (the primaries, say the Sun and Jupiter) revolving around their center of mass on elliptic orbits with some positive eccentricity. The aim of this paper is to show that there exist trajectories of motion such that their angular momentum performs arbitrary excursions in a ...
